What inspired you to go into the dessert business? It was taught to me at a very young age that as an invited guest to someone’s home, you should never arrive empty handed. I always used it as an opportunity to bring something delicious and sweet. It was a challenge to continue this tradition with such a limited local selection of bakery-fresh, artistic desserts and I found myself driving all over the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles to take care of my guest/hostess needs. I saw a need and I wanted to work for myself, so I tested the water.
What’s the coolest service that you offer? We deliver locally for a minimum order of $35, which includes a wrapped package of sweets, a hand-written card and personal delivery by one of our Dessert Bar Specialists. We know how to balance flavors, textures and sizes - as well as preferences - to ensure a very happy crowd of two or 200. Clients also love that they have such a selection, both in flavors and size. One calls it "dessert sushi," because she likes serving lots of mini pieces in a wide variety of desserts to her guests.
What is the most amazing product that you offer? Stuffed Cupcakes and Stuffed Strawberries. They offer a wonderful surprise in the center! Both are a new take on an old favorite and get rave reviews.
If you could only eat one dessert for the rest of your life, what would it be? Dark Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Rods. The salty pretzel and sweet chocolate are my overall favorite and at Babe’s we have an endless selection of dippers and designs to choose from.
What does the future hold for Babe’s? I hope to have more locations in the near future that can host a larger selection of dessert items all at the ready.
What would we never guess? That I really do sample everything we have and then some...

 Tucked into Papalino’s Italian Restaurant is a dessert-lover’s Mecca. Year-round, this place takes the “cup”-cake, with stuffed selections Willy Wonka couldn’t have dreamed up (Score a five pack of mini Red Velvet cupcakes on Wednesdays for $5.). But the holidays bring out the best: Pumpkin Cheese Bites (pumpkin cake baked with pumpkin cheesecake, topped with whipped cream and a white-chocolate pumpkin), Ginger Cheese Bites (gingerbread with ginger cheesecake, topped with gingerbread crumbles), Spiced Petite Cakes, Alisha’s Pumpkin Pie Stuffed Cupcakes, Crème Brule Tarts, Homemade Cannoli and Caramel Apples. Catering, delivery and special orders “sweetly” filled.
